How long does trademark registration take in India?

An unopposed application typically registers in 8-18 months: examination within a few months, acceptance or objection, advertisement in the Trade Marks Journal, a four-month opposition window, then registration. Objections or oppositions extend this — which is why the pre-filing search matters.

Can I use my brand while the trademark is pending?

Yes — and you should, with the TM symbol. Use builds the reputation evidence that strengthens prosecution and enforcement. The R-in-circle symbol may only be used after registration; premature use of it is an offence.
